The Federation of Unimpeded Components conducts activities to raise awareness of the rights of persons with disabilities and to encourage those whose rights have been violated to use the mechanisms to seek justice. In addition to its rights-focused initiatives, such as promoting gender equality and freedom of organisation, the Federation organises awareness-raising events and workshops on the rights of persons with disabilities in areas such as health and education. These initiatives aim to empower people with disabilities to be aware of, protect and advocate for their rights.
In this context, the association creates a platform for member organisations to work together to address the human rights violations and discrimination faced by people with disabilities in the region. As part of the project to support the mechanisms for claiming the rights of people with disabilities, we are working with bar associations and non-governmental organisations to provide legal support to people with disabilities when submitting applications to national mechanisms. Our aim is to make discrimination against people with disabilities visible, support the victims and help them file complaints with the Ombudsman Institution (KDK) or the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey (TİHEK), depending on their interests.
As part of these efforts, workshops on the functions and application procedures of the national mechanisms are held in the provinces of Van, Şırnak/Cizre and Diyarbakır. The training on the functions and application procedures of the national mechanisms will be held in Diyarbakır on 24 February 2024. Applications will be accepted from Mardin and Diyarbakır until 17 February 2024. Applications for the training courses in Şırnak/Cizre on 5 March 2024 and in Van on 6 March 2024 will be accepted until 27 February 2024. The full-day training courses are open to participants from the aforementioned provinces.
